Lacoste is a French company, founded in 1933 by tennis player René Lacoste and André Gillier. René Lacoste, the company's founder, was nicknamed "the Crocodile" by fans because of his tenacity on the tennis court. Lacoste is recognized by its green crocodile logo and known for its high-quality clothing and footwear. 🐊
Before Lacoste, tennis meant long-sleeve shirts, but he put comfort first and shortened the sleeves of a typical tennis shirt to create the first comfortable polo. For the first time designs were embroidered with a signature crocodile by an early fan of customisation, Robert George, making them instantly recognisable. After this, René Lacoste immediately embroidered on his blazers. Soon, René Lacoste was dressing friends and family in the polo shirt during international matches. Well ahead of his time, he designed the modern wardrobe: light, adaptable and highly desirable. The Lacoste fundamentals were firmly established. In 1933, Lacoste founded La Société Chemise Lacoste with André Gillier.
